How do we install ceramic coatings in Santa Cruz?
Because we offer mobile detailing and ceramic coating services in Santa Cruz, we have to consider more factors than a detailer in a shop environment. When a vehicle’s panels are exposed to the sun they can get hot enough to evaporate the oils in polishing compounds. To combat the sun we use a pop-up canopy to prevent direct sunlight from reaching the vehicle’s paint.
Handwash: Using a foam cannon, we spray the vehicle with a foamy soap is designed to strip any oils and grease from a vehicle. The car is manually scrubbed by hand using a wash and rinse bucket to ensure proper coverage. The vehicle is then dried to prepare it for the next step.
Chemical Decontamination: We use the proper products to remove anything that did not come off during the wash. Such as, tree sap, road tar, bugs, industrial fallout, and more.
Clay Bar Treatment: A clay bar is used on all painted surfaces and windows to completely strip the vehicle of any left over imbedded contamination.
Single Stage Paint Correction: Using a wool pad and proper cutting and polishing compounds, we remove any swirl marks, or light scratches in the clear coat. This step is necessary for a shiny and reflective ceramic coating.
Installation: We apply a generous layer of SunCoat’s 10 year ceramic coating to each painted surface, as well as the windows of the vehicle.
The vehicle can be driven 30 minutes after a ceramic coating installation, and can become wet 4 hours after. It is recommended to refrain from washing the vehicle for one week. Automatic car washes and improper hand washing techniques are to ALWAYS be avoided as it may void your manufacturer’s warranty and cause damage to the ceramic coating.
